To enter into the Sacred Heart of Jesus is to enter more intimately into His agony of love. To enter into the Heart of Jesus is a most intimate participation in His bitter chalice. To come to love with Jesus is to share His sorrows and participate in His tears. To enter into the Sacred Heart of Jesus is to receive directly His tears into our hearts as His living chalices. Our tears and the tears of Jesus are one. Our sorrows are His sorrows. Our desolation is His desolation. Our solitude is His solitude. We are no longer two but ONE. This is life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is life in God’s agony of love for souls. It is participation in Jesus’ interior crucifixion. It is the martyrdom of the heart, and in this union of suffering is the most perfect union of love, a love that is the fulfillment of our soul’s desire.
