Fruit of My Silent Retreat

Date: July 30, 2025

I feel like the woman in the Song of Songs seeking her Bridegroom:

Upon my bed by night I sought him whom my soul loves; I sought him, but found him not; I called him, but he gave no answer. I will rise now and go about the city, in the streets and in the squares; I will seek him whom my soul loves. (Song of Solomon 3:1-2)

I’ve been seeking my Beloved all my life. I live my nights in a continuous groan of love; a groan of longing to be in His arms; a groan of endless waiting; a groan of being one Heart with Him, no longer two. The bride and the Bridegroom have finally become One!

My Bridegroom allowed me to find the pearl of great value (Mt 13:46) in the silent retreat I just had. Grace drew me into the Tabernacle, into the Heart of my Beloved in the Living Host—a new experience of union with my Beloved, participating with Him in His Eucharistic life. I could possess and enjoy this most treasured pearl in silence, gazing at Him, even though His face is veiled, just as Moses’s face was veiled when he came down from the mountain after being in the presence of God (Exodus 34:34-35). And yet, even though I am gazing at my Beloved veiled, He has drawn his bride into Himself. The gift of gifts, and now I must be willing to sell everything (Matthew 13:46 ) so that I can remain possessing the pearl of great value.
